Aaron Chan was born in Vancouver, Canada, and is a musician, filmmaker, and writer. He holds a diploma from the one-year Screenwriting Program at Vancouver Film School as well as a BFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. His writing has been published in literary magazines and publications including Wilde, Existere, Plenitude, filling Station, Polychrome Ink, Daily Xtra, and others. His memoir piece, “A Case of Jeff,” won subTerrain‘s Lush Triumphant Literary Award in 2013. The following year, his play, In the Movies, was selected for production as part of the Brave New Play Rites Festival, and in 2017, Romantic Hopeless, his first poetry chapbook was published. Aaron’s first full-length book, a collection of memoir pieces and personal essays about growing up as a young, gay, Chinese man titled This City is a Minefield, will be published in 2019 by Signal 8 Press.
Aaron also likes cats and vegan cheesecake.
